Ligita Stramkale is a docent at the University of Latvia in the Faculty of Education, Psychology and Art. Since 2015, Ligita is an expert in educational sciences at the Latvian Council of Science. Since 2010, she is an expert at the National Centre for Education of the Republic of Latvia.

Ligita got a doctoral degree in Educational Sciences from the University of Latvia in 2004. Since then, for the last 19 years, she has been working in music education and higher education fields. Ligita, as a docent at the University of Latvia, developed and delivered more than 10 study courses. She works in 1st-level higher professional education, bachelor's and master's study programmes.

Ligita has been involved as an expert or participant in more than ten projects funded by the European Commission and Sustainable Advanced Manufacturing (SAM). She was a lead expert in project Innovative, research-based study program in the direction of Education and Pedagogy at the University of Latvia.

Since 2008, Ligita is a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Education issued by the University of Maribor in Slovenia. In 2016 Ligita was a Scientifical Reviewer of the Scientific Papers of the University of Latvia, Vol. 811., Pedagogy and Teacher Education. Since 2020 she is also one of the peer-reviewers of papers submitted for Proceedings of Scientific Papers in the International Scientific Conference of the University of Latvia Human, Technologies and Quality of Education.

Ligita has more than 60 publications in music education and higher education fields. The most important of them in the last three years are Future Primary School Teachers' Achievement Motivation in Remote Learning Process (2022) and Memorising Song Lyrics in Primary Education during the Music Lesson (2020) published in Journal of Education Culture and Society; The University Administrative Staff Perception of Inclusion in Higher Education (2021) published in Journal Acta Paedagogica Vilnensia; The Impact of Covid-19 Pandemic on Music Education: A Review of the Literature (2022), The Content of Today's Music Subject Curriculum for Grades 1–3 in the Context of Montessori Education Principles (2021) and Primary School Students' Self-Regulated Learning Skills in Music Lesson (2020) published in Proceedings of Scientific Papers Human, Technologies and Quality of Education; Musical Activities of Primary School Students and Parents' Engagement in Remote Music Learning during the Covid-19 Pandemic (2022) and Students' Perception about Using Background Music in Music Lesson (2020) published in The Proceedings of the International Scientific Conference Rual Environment.
