Dale Lyon is a Work Based Learning Advisor within the University of Strathclyde working with students who are studying Civil Engineering as Graduate Apprentices. These students are working full time as well as working on a fulltime undergraduate degree. Dale is also the owner of ExpLearn Limited who develop and deliver experiential learning activities both for education and employability purposes and has been Operations Director for the highly successful ConStructED Scotland training program for undergraduate students.

Dale has been speaking on the topic of Transversal Skills and Experiential Learning across Europe for the past 5 years and was awarded, as part of the successful PEETS (Promoting Excellence in Employability and Transversal Skills) KA2 Erasmus project, an illustrious CATE ( Collaborative Award for Teaching Excellence ) from Advance HE. The activities of ExpLearn Limited and its Director have been further recognised with a top 5 finalist for a Triple Helix Collaboration of the year award from ACEEU (The Accreditation Council for Entrepreneurial and Engaged Universities) and several Scottish Federation of Training Awards for Innovative Training for work with disengaged young learners.

Dale still continues to stay up to date with industry through his consultancy business trading as Concrete Scotland and has further developed teaching resources for concrete and concrete finishes at various levels of delivery having been involved in designing concrete mixes and supplying complex geometric formwork for several high profile projects
