Scott Ferree is a lecturer in English and Spanish at the California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo, California. He teaches courses in English composition and rhetoric for multilingual speakers, Spanish language, Spanish literature, cultures of Spain and Latin America, and linguistics. He has also taught English for speakers of other languages.
His research interests include investigating bilingualism, the linguistic landscape, and the role of different languages in communities of the central coast of California, Spanish as a heritage language, young interpreters and translators, translanguaging, and pedagogical innovations in the classroom such as conversation exchanges. He is currently interested in examining cross-disciplinary approaches toward the fields of heritage language and English composition, and how the two areas might dialogue with one another to support multilingual learners in different languages.
