Marilena Tumler is a research assistant in the Design Department and lecturer in the InterMedia degree programme at the FHV University of Applied Sciences in Dornbirn (Austria).
Marilena did her masters degree in 2022 in philosophy, psychology and history for teaching profession at the University of Vienna. At the moment she is finishing her second masters degree in Ethics at the University of Vienna.
In the context her masters theses of 2022 she developed the location-based augmented reality hosting app i.appear. Through her work with the application, she collaborates with various institutions such as museums, archives or cities on educational concepts with a special focus on location-based augmented reality. The aim is to find sustainable solutions for education through immersive media that support digital literacy and lifelong learning in society.
Since the beginning of 2022, she has been working as a research assistant in the Department of Design, where she conducts research in interdisciplinary projects on the topic of mediation through immersive media, but also on future mediation in museums or social science topics.
In her current studies, she is focusing on problems of media ethics and on the mediation of ethical issues through immersive media.
