New Perspectives in Science Education

University of Belgrade is founded in 1808 as the Belgrade Higher School in Serbia. In 1838 it merged with the Kragujevac-based departments into a single university which was named University of Belgrade with office in Belgrade (Serbia). The University has nearly 90000 students (including around 1700 postgraduates) and over 4200 members of teaching staff. Since its founding, the University has educated more than 330000 bachelors and graduates, 29000 specialists, around 21300 candidates of science and 12600 doctors of science. The University comprises 31 faculties, 11 research institutes, the university library and 7 university centres. The faculties are organized into 4 groups of scientific fields: social sciences and humanities, medical sciences, natural sciences and mathematics and technological sciences. In the paper is given bibliometric analysis of publications produced by University of Belgrade during the observed period 1996-2014 based on two major scientific databases Web of Science (WoS) and Scopus data. Also, is given analysis of an approximation of number of publications. Aim of the paper is to evaluate publication productivity of University of Belgrade and associated Faculties. Their impact to the scientific areas as well as specific topic investigations remains to be studied, but this paper and its data presents a baseline further research.
