Teaching Energy Literacy Education for Sustainable Development Goals

Abstract

Nowadays the daily energy needs have increased. Many electronic goods need the energy to run. It demands human resource to know more about energy literacy. Especially students as next generation who can support their country to supply energy needs. Therefore, energy literacy education is needed to face that phenomena. Sustainable development goals in 2030 were launched by United Nation helped us to understand energy literacy. The first is to ensure universal access to affordable, reliable and modern energy services. The second is to increase substantially the share of renewable energy in the global context. Energy literacy education enhances international cooperation to facilitate access to clean energy research and technology, including renewable energy, energy efficiency and promoting investment in energy infrastructure and clean energy technology. Indonesia's curriculum called Curriculum 2013 is the new government's policy expected to face the challenges and issues by the Indonesian nation in the future. In the senior high school, learning is based on Curriculum 2013 basic competencies i.e. renewable and nonrenewable energy, electrical energy generator and environmental impacts.
