Abstract

This paper discusses the teaching concept about the innovation way to teach STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) education through Thinking A Like Scientist. Nowadays the development of science and technology is very rapid. Students of Indonesia need skills to compete with their colleagues around the world. STEM education makes the students think comprehensively about natural phenomena. Many daily products have been based on the knowledge-based economy. For facing advanced society, STEM education has to be taught well. In Indonesia’s school curriculum called Curriculum 2013, there is scientific method approach that is appropriate with Thinking Like A Scientist i.e. observing, asking, collecting the information, reasoning, and communicating. On observation phase, the students observe phenomena around them through experiment or video. On asking phase, the teacher gives a great opportunity to students to ask everything that they have observed. On collecting the data phase, it is follow-up activity of asking phase where the students explore information from several sources. On reasoning phase, the information is processed from experiment or other activities. And communicating phase, the students can explain or conclude what they have conducted during learning activity The students are stimulated to think STEM discipline education e.g. physics, chemistry, biology, and integrated science like a scientist. Through Thinking Like A Scientist, it will teach how the students do STEM learning or experiment use the correct scientific method.
