Research relating environmental themes that encompass environmental education has been growing at the level of Brazilian regions and globally. Involved in the Amazon context, we think of "Chemical" Science as a mediator in this context of complex importance for the development of a sustainable world, we believe that reflecting on this initiative of the program's contents, involving the environmental problems of the Amazon is a way of collaborating to demonstrate the importance of this Science for the maintenance of life. The work is an exploratory study with a qualitative approach, and a questionnaire was conducted for a group of 59 students in the third year of high school belonging to a public school in the city of Manaus-AM. We analyzed students' conceptions of chemical content, environmental education and the Amazon. The students demonstrate an understanding of the need for environmental education in the classroom, however, as the chemical content specifically integrated with the Amazon can contribute to the quality of life of the population, it is still a process that requires: teacher autonomy and integration of academics into research groups working with this perspective, for the training of future citizens capable of significantly interfering in the formation of a sustainable society.
