An Analysis of Science Curriculum Within the Context of Engineering and Design Skills in Turkey

Countries include the implementation of many methods and strategies to ensure effective science teaching. For this purpose, countries also make changes in their curricula in the process. The effect of the constructivist approach in science teaching programs has started to be seen since the beginning of the 2000s. In constructivism, which is based on active learning and meaningful learning, establishing the relationship between the subjects learned and daily life has an important place. Technological developments are advancing rapidly day by day. With the advancement of technology, the relationship between science and technology becomes more important. In this respect, it is important to give the relationship between science and technology in science teaching programs. It is important to include science, technology, engineering and mathematics applications (STEM) in curricula. In 2018, STEM applications were especially included in the science curriculum in Turkey. With this study, the engineering and design skills detailed in the science curriculum will be explained and explanations will be given on how these skills can be gained.
