The effectiveness of brain-based learning strategies in developing academic avhievement and critical and creative thinking skills among university students - An experimental study

Abstract

Brain-based learning represents a comprehensive approach to teaching and learning that includes a set of brain principles according to the working mechanisms of the brain, It also works to helps students to activate and stimulate their thinking. It includes a variety of strategies that make learning more fun and effective, especially as it takes into account the cognitive, emotional and social aspects.

The subject of this study is to investigate the effectiveness of an educational program designed based on a theory - brain-based learning - that includes a set of education strategies increasing academic achievement, developing some critical and creative thinking skills. In order to search for the best formulations for educational situations that It would develop the abilities of creativity and motivation and raise the level of academic achievement.The study aimed to test the effectiveness of suggestion program with selected educational strategies, improving the efficacy of some practical educational variables (academic achievement, creative and critical thinking skills with its dimension).

This study used experimental method (experimental and control groups) with pre and post measurements. The sample of the study consisted of 60 students. The study tools were : Educational program designed according to these strategies learning strategies based on research, meaning build ( K_w_ L) , brainstorming , cooperative learning, controversy, discussion, organizer formal, brain activation strategy, Academic Achievement Test in general psychology scale. _ Learning Motivation Scale, Critical Thinking Test.and Creative Thinking Test.

The results of the study are : There is a significance effectiveness of the program in increasing academic achievement, creative and critical thinking.
