Abstract

This paper and presentation will address three key areas in management and organizational behavior where the study of and understanding of the nervous system and brain can provide great insights into leadership effectiveness.  David Rock, author of “Your Brain at Work” coined the term neuroleadership.  Neuroleadership focuses on applying neuroscience to leadership development, management training, change management education and consulting, and coaching.

This paper will examine those issues and the application of neuroscience to organizational life and study, and this emerging field.  The authors will provide examples of how applying neuroscience to the study of workplaces and the people within them can improve leadership practices, change management, innovation and creativity, and employee engagement.

Much of what will be presented supports existing practices, but offers greater insights as to why they might be successful, and why they do not lead to success.  More importantly, this paper will offer suggestions and practices that will have a positive impact on Human Capital both on the individual and organizational levels.
