Charles Bonello graduated with a B.A. [Educ] in Physics and Science in 1981. He then proceeded to do a B.Sc. in Mathematics and Physics in 1991 and a M.Ed. in 1996. He obtained these three degrees from the University of Malta. He then successfully obtained a doctorate degree in science education from the University of Sheffield, UK in 2010.
As from 1981 to 1987, Charles taught Physics in two secondary state schools. Then he started teaching Physics at sixth form level in 1987 at the Junior College, Msida. He joined the Faculty of Education as a part-time lecturer in Science Education in 1997 and as a full time lecturer in 2010.
He is presently a senior lecturer in Department of Mathematics and Science Education at the Faculty of Education, University of Malta.
His research interest is pedagogy with a particular focus on classroom discourse, teaching strategies and the use of ICT in science teaching. He contributed papers in both local and international conferences and in journals. He also participates in EU-funded projects.
