Thomas Wilson
Institution: University of Southampton
Country: United Kingdom
Thomas is a third year Ph.D. student at the University of Southampton. Thomas’ research investigates how we use the laboratory as an educational tool, and if the use of web-based technology can promote deep and meaningful learning in and from the laboratory. To do this, Thomas has developed Labdog – a novel web-based piece of technology (www.labdog.co.uk). Thomas' research is looking at how, and if, Labdog can be used to promote and evidence better learning in and from the teaching laboratory and practical work.
Thomas’ areas of interest include educational technology, self-regulated learning, mixed-methods research, and data visualization. He is experienced in full-stack web development (Ruby on Rails & Node.js), and dabbles in Python and R (but never for too long). When he’s not sitting in front of a computer he’s probably reading, running, cycling, dancing, doing yoga, or finding mischief.
