Rodrick Cini is a Science teacher with specialisation in Physics. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree of Education in Science and Physics in 2015 from the University of Malta.
Since then, he has been teaching these subjects in a secondary church school. For three consecutive years, he led his students to participate in the Malta Junior Science Olympiad as well as the Go4Research Programme. Both programmes are organised by the Directorate for Learning and Assessment Programme within the Ministry for Education in collaboration with the Faculty of Sciences at the University of Malta.
In 2019, he graduated with a master’s degree in Science education from the University of Malta. During the master’s degree, his area of research was assessment with attention to practical work. In 2020, he graduated with a postgraduate certificate in educational mentorship. The aim of this learning experience is to become equipped with skills to mentor and support student-teachers during their field-placement and help them develop strategies for effective teaching that facilitates student learning and adopt a reflective approach to teaching.
In 2020, Rodrick joined the MATSEC Support Unit within the University of Malta as a Subject Area Officer with specialisation in Sciences. He is involved in initial teacher education for secondary school science teachers.
